Job Summary

This position is based out of HCA Florida University Hospital in the Davie, FL area and will focus on Breast and GYN oncology patients. Possibly facility change to HCA Mercy Hospital.

Qualifications

  • Three to five years oncology nursing experience
  • Experience in program development preferred
  • Experience as a nurse navigator and/or patient educator in oncology preferred
  • Experience in leadership and customer service – preferred
  • Average of three to five years oncology nursing experience
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Certified Oncology Nurse (OCN) achieved or in progress – preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between the patient and family with the multidisciplinary healthcare providers to ensure effective communication and collaboration
  • Collaborate with local physician liaisons and leadership to conduct internal and external outreach and marketing when appropriate
  • Serve as a patient advocate from diagnosis to end of active treatment
  • Assess patients’ medical, social, and psychosocial needs/barriers to care and link them to appropriate resources
  • Provide appropriate teaching, outreach, and support to patients and families and ensure the patient is empowered to manage their own healthcare needs
  • Conduct follow-up conversations with all patients and communicate any concerns, changes, or social needs to the appropriate physician or other care providers
