About the role
Join a talented group of more than 80 Morrison Healthcare dietitians at the University of Virginia Health System in beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia. At this level one trauma center, dietitians play an integral role on multidisciplinary teams in many specialty areas, both in the 675 bed inpatient setting, as well as in over 35 outpatient clinics.
This full-time position offers a balanced and well-rounded experience providing adult inpatient acute care coverage across a variety of service lines and patient populations. It is an excellent opportunity for both new and experienced Registered Dietitians.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based medical nutrition therapy to adult patients (18+) including comprehensive nutrition assessments, individualized diet modifications, and patient-focused nutrition education.
- Partner effectively with licensed independent practitioners (LIPs), providing confident, proactive recommendations and advocating for appropriate enteral and parenteral nutrition interventions to optimize clinical outcomes.
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation within UVA's integrated electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Participate in research, quality improvement initiatives, case reviews, and internal education.
- Foster a supportive, collaborative team culture that values autonomy, flexibility, and evidence-based practice.
- Adhere to guidelines in the Company Diet Manual and Clinical Nutrition Policies and Procedures Manual
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accrediting agency regulations, including HIPAA and patient rights policies
Requirements
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or CDR exam eligible
- Licensed Dietitian (or willing to obtain) in the state of practice as applicable
- Healthcare experience preferred—new graduates with strong clinical training are encouraged to apply

Pay and Schedule
Salary: $60,000-$90,000 based on experience. Schedule: M-F 8-5, ~6-8 Saturdays/year
