Adult Inpatient Psychiatry - Fairfax

About the Role

Inova Health is seeking a dedicated Inpatient Psychiatrist to join the Inova Behavioral Health team. This role supports Inova's mission of promoting total wellness—mind and body—by providing a full spectrum of mental health and addiction treatment services to the Northern Virginia and Washington, DC metropolitan community.

The unit operates on a three-pronged model of care: trauma-informed care, patient- and family-centered care, and Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) tools to identify lagging skills while resolving issues in a collaborative manner.

The multidisciplinary care team includes:

• Psychiatrists
• Licensed Therapists
• Social Workers
• Psychiatric Nurses
• Mental Health Technicians

Responsibilities

Provide inpatient psychiatric care within Inova’s behavioral health continuum, which includes:

• Inpatient psychiatry
• Inpatient detoxification
• Partial hospitalization programs (PHP)
• Intensive outpatient programs (IOP)
• Outpatient psychiatric appointments and counseling services

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited institution
• Board eligible or board certified in psychiatry
• Successful completion of a psychiatry residency program
• Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Virginia
• Ability to complete credentialing for third-party payors, including CMS Medicare/Medicaid
• Successful completion of medical staff credentialing for membership and clinical privileges

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of experience in psychiatry

Applicants may be considered for full-time, part-time, and PRN positions across various facilities, shifts, and specialty areas (inpatient and outpatient).

Work schedule: Monday through Friday (positions available for day, mid, and night shifts).
