About the role

The adult education ESL teacher assists adult students in developing academic knowledge, life skill competencies, and attitudes to become mature, productive, and responsible adults capable of participating in their children’s educational development.

Qualifications

- Hold a valid teaching certificate. - Eligible for or willing to obtain an 088. - Bachelor's degree in Education or related field. - Certified or certifiable in CT English to Non-English Speaking Adults (088) or TESOL certification (111). - Attend mandatory adult education meetings and staff development sessions. - Meet with program coordinator and facilitator to discuss classroom materials and other issues. - Create and maintain a positive learning environment and standards of behavior. - Plan life skills and academic instruction based on needs assessments, appropriate appraisal instruments, and program guidelines based on the CCR Standards. - Develop teaching strategies appropriate for adult ESL learners. - Implement instruction reflecting structure and logical sequence for appropriate learning levels. - Organize and request teaching materials suitable for adult ESL learners. - Help administer appropriate CCS testing. - Maintain accurate attendance records.

Pay

$32.83 per hour; $20.00 prep

Schedule

4 hours x 2 days a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays), 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
