Adoption Services Administrator

Leading with light means helping every child find the opportunity to grow in a safe, permanent, and loving family. As our Adoption Services Administrator, you will play an essential role in advancing that mission while supporting our vision of creating the healthiest state in the nation.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for North Dakota's adoption services and adoption subsidy program.
- Support children in finding permanent families, support individuals and families as they grow through adoption, and assist those seeking to reconnect with biological family members through the adoption search process.
- Oversee program budgets, manage contracts and requests, and ensure the resources and partnerships are in place to keep adoption services operating effectively and efficiently.
- Facilitate adoptive placements, adoption finalizations, and adoption subsidy support by timely and accurate processing of services and legal documents.
- Develop expertise in adoption processes that extend beyond North Dakota, including interstate and international adoptions. Interpret and provide accurate guidance to families, case workers, attorneys, and community partners throughout the adoption process.
- Evaluate complex situations, identify solutions, and balance careful attention to detail with the broader goals of the program.
- Manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly as needs change, coordinating numerous moving pieces while ensuring each case receives the attention and care it deserves.
- Communicate confidently with a wide variety of audiences, adjusting your communication style to meet the needs of legislators, attorneys, judges, case workers, community partners, and families considering or completing an adoption.
- Interpret both written documentation and the unique circumstances surrounding each case, demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and sound judgment while supporting individuals and families who may be experiencing a wide range of emotions during one of the most significant moments of their lives.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, education, human services, child development and family science, human resource management (human service track), or criminal justice.
- A minimum of three (3) years of professional work experience as a social worker, child protective service worker, or professional case manager specifically with agencies who support child welfare.
