Position Summary
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Acts as liaison between nursing units, admissions and the DON.
- Maintains safety for all residents.
- Makes recommendations for training or work modifications to the DON based on evaluations of nursing staff.
- Manages personnel functions including establishing qualifications, conducting in-service programs, and implementing record and reporting systems.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing services and ensures annual competency evaluations and performance reviews are completed on time.
- Addresses survey and standards of care issues proactively, including weight loss, gradual dose reduction, pressure ulcers, and changes in resident condition.
- Responds promptly to resident, family, and employee concerns.
- Guides the professional development of nursing staff.
- Conducts daily chart audits to ensure assessments, nursing summaries, MARS, treatment, flow sheets, and nurse’s notes are informative, descriptive, and aligned with resident care.
- Maintains oversight of medication passes and treatment schedules to ensure proper administration and adherence to orders.
- Reports medication errors and significant changes in resident status to the Director of Nursing/Administrator.
- Assists the DON in investigating allegations of resident abuse.
- Represents the DON at community meetings and assumes operational responsibilities in the Director’s absence.
- Collaborates with the staffing coordinator to ensure adequate nursing staff coverage.
- Supports the DON in report preparation and form completion.
- Participates in staff counseling, disciplinary actions, and terminations within legal limits.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Valid nursing license.
- Valid CPR certification.
- 5-10 years of nursing experience preferred.
