Admit Financial Counselor

About the role

Performs all functions necessary to ensure accurate and timely data entry; including verification of insurance benefits for all observation and inpatient admissions.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent required upon hire or transfer to the department
• Medical terminology and bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
• Training and Experience:
  • Computer experience required
  • Two (2) to three (3) years prior experience in medical field preferred
  • Prior registration and/or business office experience recommended
  • Efficient math skills and deductive reasoning
  • Ability to communicate effectively
• Job Knowledge:
  • General knowledge of medical business office practices
  • Knowledge of insurance benefits, prorating and coordination of benefits
  • Knowledge of equipment required for routine operations
  • Strong communication skills
  • Basic understanding of business application software
  • Ability to maintain calm temperament under stressful conditions
