Tower Behavioral Health in Reading, PA is expanding and seeking passionate Registered Nurses (RN) to join the nursing team. New RN graduates are welcome to apply. The facility is a state-of-the-art Psych-Safe environment with spacious outdoor courtyards, indoor gymnasiums, and an herb garden, located on a serene, partially wooded parcel.

About the Role

Responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients with a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude to foster a supportive and therapeutic environment. Patient safety is a top priority.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and coordinate care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs of patients, developing and implementing nursing care plans, maintaining medical records, and educating patients and their families about various conditions.
  • Provide nursing care and services within the standards and scope of nursing practice as defined by state regulations, policies, procedures, and facility protocols.
  • Ensure physician’s orders are legible if taken verbally and transcribed appropriately per policy.
  • Assess patient’s status on an ongoing basis and document pertinent information gathered.
  • Collaborate with others to ensure all patients’ physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental, and cultural needs are met; address and resolve customer complaints.
  • Notify physician of significant changes in patient status, such as difficulties with detox, medical emergencies, or changes in response to medications.
  • Ensure nursing treatment plans are specific to assessed needs and the initial treatment plan is completed upon admission.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and utilization of universal precautions in providing direct patient care.
  • Accurately administer medications per ordered note and document controlled substance counts as required.
  • Complete admission and discharge processes efficiently and accurately as directed.
  • Exhibit therapeutic rapport with patients by maintaining professional boundaries, respecting personal space, and maintaining rational detachment.
  • Provide direction or coordinate unit activities as directed.
  • Communicate therapeutically and professionally with patients, visitors, coworkers, and others involved in patient treatment.
  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required.
  • One or more years’ nursing experience within the clinical area of service provided by the facility preferred.
  • Current RN license as required by state.
  • CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.

Schedule

  • Full Time Nights: 3x12-hour shifts
  • Every 3rd weekend rotation

Pay

  • Salary range: $41 - $50 per hour (including shift differential)
  • Up to $10,000 sign-on bonus available for full-time night shift
