About the role
Metropolitan Behavioral Health (a UHS Facility) is a growing, 144-bed behavioral health facility providing a full continuum of inpatient services across the entire patient population, including specialty programs for adolescents, adults, and older adults, with behavioral health assessments available 24 hours a day. Programs for co-occurring behavioral health and substance use issues are offered, along with a robust outpatient program utilizing group, family, and individual therapy.
The Admissions Nurse works closely with Intake and unit staff to coordinate and facilitate the safe and efficient admission of patients accepted to the facility. This full-time day shift position operates from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., though the role requires willingness to work evenings, nights, and weekend rotations as needed.
Responsibilities
- Perform level of care assessments on walk-in patients and nursing assessments on direct admit patients
- Use the EMR system and admission packet to complete necessary intake documentation and consents
- Conduct thorough assessments of new patients, including gathering detailed medical and psychiatric histories, current medications, allergies, and legal status
- Coordinate with intake, the psychiatrist, and unit nurse to ensure all appropriate precautions are ordered
- Ensure proper documentation is in place and all relevant information is passed on to the receiving nurse for a safe handoff of all incoming patients
Requirements
- Michigan RN license
- Hospital experience required
- Psychiatric hospital experience strongly preferred
- Willing to work evenings, nights, and weekend rotation
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team
- Experience working with an EMR
