Responsibilities
- Review and approve expenditures and oversee financial management of all departmental funds to ensure compliance with School of Medicine, University, and granting agency guidelines.
- Serve as the department’s financial liaison to university and external stakeholders.
- Manage departmental operations and personnel processes, including requests for new or replacement positions, preparation of annual salary budgets, supervision of administrative staff, and coordination with Human Resources.
- Provide comprehensive financial management of research funds. Assist investigators with sponsored project budget development and proposal submissions; review financial statements; prepare timely financial reports; develop spending forecasts; and support investigators in long-term financial planning for their projects.
- Prepare and manage capital and operating budgets, including revisions and supporting documentation.
- Cook up space utilization and maintenance needs in collaboration with the School of Medicine and other university offices.
- Report to and assist the Department Chair in managing departmental personnel, operations, and financial status.
- Support faculty recruitment efforts.
- Serve as the department’s representative on School of Medicine or University committees, task forces, or working groups as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- 3+ years of progressively responsible administrative experience, in university or academic medical center administration strongly preferred
- Management or supervisory experience
- Experience in research administration and sponsored projects strongly preferred
- Knowledge of federal and non-federal grant management (e.g., NIH, DoD) highly desirable
- Strong financial management and organizational skills
Pay
Salary range $70-95k depending on education, experience and skill set.
Schedule
Will work in person, on campus. Potential hybrid opportunities once well established in the role.
