About the role
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the assigned facility. Develops, implements plans, evaluates and organizes facility functions in order to provide optimum/individualized care for all residents while giving appropriate attention to cost containment and regulatory compliance. Strives to achieve excellence for the residents served and the community.
Responsibilities
- Maintains channels of communication to keep on top of the prevailing attitudes, needs, and issues affecting the facility, staff, volunteers, residents, families, and NGHS departments.
- Manages the operations of the facility departments to ensure compliance with state, federal, local and organizational guidelines.
- Ensures departments are prepared for annual survey and are deficiency-free.
- Ensures that the facility's current policies are consistent with LTC division and NGHS policies and procedures.
- Ensures supply inventories are properly safeguarded and controlled.
- Ensures chargeable supplies are properly recorded and that lost charges do not result.
- Fulfills management functions within the facility.
- Makes recommendations for improvement to supervisors.
- Maintains personnel records for each employee in the personnel department.
- Verifies by personnel of all applicable current licensure/certification and reference checks for all facility staff members and contract services personnel as required.
- Ensures that the Social Services/Case Management Department ensures residents' needs are met either through facility resources or through arrangement with appropriate community resources.
- Ensures adherence to residents' rights and responsibilities policies, ensures that all staff members are aware of these rights and responsibilities.
- Provides that staff appropriately document the rights and responsibilities as required.
- Demonstrates a sound understanding of the financial operation of the facility; monitors the accuracy and reliability of financial data; implements corrective actions as necessary.
- Submits written variance analyses reports by department to LTC Division Director on a monthly basis.
- Adheres to approved facility budget/business plan.
- Counsels and resolves problems with department managers concerning such items as staffing, utilization of facilities, and issues concerning equipment and supplies.
- Prompts investigation and resolution of resident visitor, and/or physician complaints.
- Ensures logs and records of all facility complaints and grievances are maintained in order to identify trends, develops problem-solving methods.
- Demonstrates innovation and business judgment in recommending diverse sources of revenue for the facility; consistently generates sufficient net income to meet established financial goals.
- Recognizes, establishes and deals with administrative priorities in a prompt manner as required.
- Facilitates facility planning efforts by ensuring that department managers provide correct, sufficient, and timely data respective to their areas of responsibility of use in program and service planning.
- Consistently assists department managers in establishing appropriate departmental priorities.
- Develops a detailed plan for approval of action by Director LTC Division prior to implementation of a new program and/or procedure.
- Develops implementation plan which considers impact on all departments/units as well as the regulatory impact.
- Develops possible alternative courses of action; established contingency plans and considers several alternatives by assessing situations from a variety of perspectives.
- Ensures that all departments and areas of responsibility establish and submit a yearly departmental plan with associated objectives based on the overall goals and budget of the facility.
- Coordinates objectives/outcomes as appropriate and ensures quarterly monitoring.
Qualifications
- Licensure or other certifications: Nursing home administrator license (State of Georgia).
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Business or Long Term Health Care.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of long term care management/Operations.
