About the Role
Perform clerical and administrative tasks in support of the efficient and effective operations of the office.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of clerical duties to support supervisory and administrative personnel in handling daily activities.
- Receive, research, route, and/or respond to inquiries from parents, students, staff, and the general public.
- Demonstrate and promote exceptional customer service, greeting students, parents, staff, and visitors courteously and resolving issues efficiently.
- Open mail and assemble related material to facilitate replies by administrators, school principals, supervisors, or designees.
- Compose and edit routine correspondence, including forms, memoranda, reports, manuscripts, and other materials.
- Maintain alphabetical, numerical, or simple subject-matter filing systems.
- Receive and route telephone calls, answer routine questions, greet visitors, ascertain the nature of business, and direct visitors to the appropriate person.
- Arrange meetings, conferences, and business travel for administrators.
- Maintain data, statistics, and other forms of information, preparing reports as required.
- Assist in maintaining efficient office operations by providing clerical relief as needed.
- Interact effectively with the general public, staff, students, teachers, parents, and administrators using tact and good judgment.
- Operate standard office equipment as required by the job.
- Participate in training programs to enhance individual skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities.
- Review current developments, literature, and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.
- Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.
- Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee.
Requirements
- Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program.
- Knowledge of clerical practices and procedures, including filing, answering telephones, or utilizing standard office equipment.
- Proficient in the operation of office machinery and equipment, including personal computers, fax machines, printers, and scanners.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced organization skills and keen attentiveness to detail.
- Computer skills as required for the position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior clerical work experience with Broward County Public Schools.
- Bilingual.
Physical Requirements
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
Pay
Hourly rate: $15.84 - $24.25 per hour. New hires will be hired at the minimum of the assigned salary range.
