Job Description

  • Supports department leadership activities in managing clinical excellence and safe patient care delivery to achieve compliance with professional, regulatory bodies, hospital and department standards including: Experience of Care/Patient and Family Satisfaction. Enforces strategies for sustaining a “patient-centric” culture. Communicates to the staff the quality of the patient experience through feedback. Colleague commitment and engagement. Partners with the Nursing Leadership Team to improve the colleague experience as a necessary outcome to improve patient experience and clinical excellence; including participation in the development and implementation of initiatives geared to professional staff, nursing and all other colleagues.
  • Works with resource management staffing coordinators to ensure optimal deployment of workforce resources. Responsible for ongoing review of all staffing deployment decisions of workforce resources.
  • Administers the schedule after self-scheduling is complete. Manages vacation requests. Ensures holiday requirements are met and fairly distributed. Handles last-minute changes due to call-offs or surges in activity. Reconciles MyTime and MySchedule prior to Director sign-off on payroll.
  • Serves as a clinical resource regarding policy and procedures, patient standards, performance improvement and risk management issues.
  • Expresses self orally in individual or group situations in a manner that delivers the message to nursing staff and other health professionals in an accurate and appropriate manner.
  • Safeguards the environment of care and workforce security by collaborating with security services and administrative leaders.
  • Fosters a culture that allows staff to feel appreciated, included and valued.
  • Facilitates the goals and objectives of the Department of Nursing and the Hospital.
  • Trains and supports leaders and staff for continual improvement. Responsible for leading education and professional development of the administrative nursing leadership team including: Ensures all Annual Mandatory Education modules are completed on time. Identifies opportunities for ongoing education/professional development. Ensures all licenses & certifications are up to date (CPR, ACLS, HWC, etc). Provides regular communication to the team regarding operational changes other time-sensitive information. Integrates/coordinates the supervisors across all 3 campuses.

Qualifications

  • Education - Required Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Education - Preferred Master’s Degree.
  • Experience - Required 3 years nursing experience – critical care or ER preferred.
  • Experience - Preferred 1 year demonstrated leadership and management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills And Abilities - Required Patient-and Family-Centered Practice-Knowledge of how to convey respect and collaborate with each patient, family and/or designated care partner in care. Cultural Awareness-Knowledge of people with diverse backgrounds and the ability to convey respect and connect effectively. Effective Communication-Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques, ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Uses the language of partnership with patients and families, engaging them in their health and health care. Able to promote high levels of interdisciplinary collaboration. Basic computer skills.
  • Licenses And Certifications - Required BLS - Basic Life Support. AHA - American Heart Association. RN - Licensed Registered Nurse. PA - State of Pennsylvania.
  • Licenses And Certifications - Preferred ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - American Heart Association.
