About the role

Indian River State College is seeking a strategic, forward-thinking leader to guide our library system as a dynamic hub for student success, academic excellence, and lifelong learning. This role goes beyond traditional library management; you’ll shape how information, technology, and collaboration come together to support students, faculty, and the broader college community.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and executes library operations, internal and external programs, and projects in support of the College’s mission and goals
  • Assists in the management of professional development and information literacy programming in collaboration with multiple departments and other stakeholders, including faculty leads
  • Prepares the libraries budget and reviews and evaluates requests for expenditure of funds relating to operations
  • Supervises and evaluates all library personnel; including faculty librarians. Oversees staff development and training; determines work schedules; and recommends personnel actions including hiring, promotions, transfers, and terminations
  • Collaborates with College personnel to integrate information literacy into instructional programs and to instruct library employees about the role of the library in student learning and the College community
  • Ensures compliance with accreditation requirements
  • Provides copyright information and resources to the college community
  • Represents the College within the library community at the local, state, and national levels
  • Completes other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Library and Information Science required; Doctorate in a related field is preferred
  • Minimum three (3) years of professional experience in academic library or learning resource services
  • Proven experience in an administrative or managerial role; preferably in a higher education setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance
  • Demonstrated knowledge of copyright law and information literacy integration
  • Proven leadership capabilities
  • Capability to function within a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels
  • Ability to develop and/or implement strategies to support students’ retention, persistence, and program completion is essential
  • Ability to develop and administer a budget
  • Ability to be well organized and demonstrate effective time management
  • Ability to be an effective decision maker and creative problem solver

Physical Demands

This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally more than twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.

PAY

The starting salary for this position is $81,279.55. All salary calculations begin at the minimum salary and are based on the candidate's education and experience.
