About the role

The Kodiak Island Borough School District is seeking an Administrative Assistant: Board Clerk/Secretary for the 2026-2027 school year. This position supports the Superintendent's Office and serves as the Board Clerk/Secretary for the Board of Education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Superintendent and District administration, including correspondence, calendars, scheduling, travel, and meeting coordination.
  • Serve as Board Clerk/Secretary by coordinating Board meeting schedules, preparing agendas and supporting materials, attending Board meetings, recording minutes, maintaining official Board records, and publishing approved meeting documents.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, Board resolutions, legal notices, and other District documents with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Cookordinate Board meeting logistics, including meeting notices, public postings, executive session materials, technology, and meeting room preparation.
  • Maintain official Board records, policies, administrative regulations, resolutions, and historical documents in accordance with District procedures and applicable record retention requirements.
  • Assist with public records requests, Board communications, and responses to inquiries from Board members, employees, community members, governmental agencies, and the public.
  • Maintain confidential personnel, legal, labor relations, and executive documents while exercising sound judgment regarding sensitive information.
  • Process purchase requisitions, travel reimbursements, invoices, and other administrative records related to Board and Superintendent operations.
  • Utilize District software systems to prepare documents, maintain electronic records, publish Board materials, and support daily office operations.
  • Cookordinate meetings, trainings, and special events for the Superintendent's Office and Board of Education.
  • Maintain regular attendance, dependable work habits, and effective communication while providing professional customer service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent training and experience in office administration, business, or a related field preferred.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative support experience; Experience Supporting Executive Leadership Or Governing Boards Preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with office technology and business software.

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of modern office practices and administrative procedures.
  • Knowledge of Board governance procedures and meeting processes.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and District software applications.
