About the role

The City of Torrance is recruiting for an Administrative Analyst to be part of the Information Technology Department Team. The position supports management/supervisory staff with problem resolution; research and data compilation and report preparation; and researches and provides administrative solutions requiring knowledge of records management, forms control, systems and procedures analysis and statistical analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Supports management/supervisory staff with problem resolution;
  • Research and data compilation and report preparation;
  • Researches and provides administrative solutions requiring knowledge of records management, forms control, systems and procedures analysis and statistical analysis;
  • Counsels and assists with procurement, budget planning, monitoring expenditures, and tracking financial performance;
  • Assists with departmental day-to-day operations such as RFPs, grant preparation, and personnel-related matters, and performs related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree from a college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field;
  • At least one-year of related professional experience or 2 years of related college course work and 4 years of progressively responsible administrative or analytical experience.

Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access and Visio);
  • Experience monitoring, tracking, and analyzing operational trends to identify patterns, improve processes, support strategic decision-making, and enhance overall organizational performance;
  • Strong research, analytical, and presentation skills;
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams, stakeholders, and leadership at all levels of an organization;
  • Experience assisting with procurement, budget planning, monitoring expenditures, and tracking financial performance;
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and time-management abilities, with a proven track record of prioritizing competing responsibilities, meeting deadlines, and delivering high-quality results in fast-paced environments;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment, maintaining accountability, and consistently achieving organizational goals and project objectives.
