Administration and Management Trainee
The Department of Environmental Protection's HR Office is seeking a candidate with excellent analytical and communication skills for a paid, 12-month, on-the-job training program as an Administration and Management Trainee in the Talent Management section. Upon successful completion, you will be promoted to Human Resource Analyst 1.
About the role
As an Administration and Management Trainee, you will learn the duties of the position while gaining valuable skills and experience. This role supports consistent, well-planned hiring activities that guide managers through posting, recruiting, and selecting candidates.
Responsibilities
- Provide direction to hiring managers on posting options, requisitions, and selection strategies
- Analyze posting history and related information to shape recruitment strategies
- Complete required forms, attach documentation, and route materials through NEOGOV
- Review applicant materials, manage interview steps, and support legal hiring decisions
- Update systems and reports to ensure accurate vacancy and process information
- Assist managers with question development and ensure job-related evaluation methods
Schedule
- Full-time employment
- Work hours: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
- Telework: Opportunity to work from home part-time (standard three telework/two office days per week). Requires a securely configured high-speed internet connection and an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If unable to telework, you may report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Telework eligibility is subject to change.
Pay
Selected candidates new to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will start at an annual salary of $46,827 (before taxes).
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree, including 15 credits in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 15 credits in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements if they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credit.
