About the Organization
The mission of Specialized Treatment Facility (STF) is to promote and strengthen the mental health and the education of up to 48 adolescent males and females who are experiencing behavioral difficulties in their homes, schools, and communities. Specialized Treatment Facility employs milieu therapy as the foundation for the treatment of its residents. Milieu therapy is a planned treatment environment in which everyday events and interactions are therapeutically designed for the purpose of enhancing social skills and building confidence. This therapy uses common structures familiar to all children, such as daily routines, consistent rules, and activities.
About the Role
Resident Living Shift Supervisors are the second-level supervisory position accountable for the management of subordinate staff. Responsible for delegating assignments and assigning tasks, as well as establishing and ensuring staff follow employee policies and procedures. Supervision includes hire interviews and recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. This role requires the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen.
Responsibilities
- Follow policy and procedures and communicate with staff on the pods.
- Conduct supervision with staff in assigned pod and input clinical supervision online.
- Assign and complete all paperwork and reports, ensuring staff complete in-services and online training to remain in compliance.
- Recognize possible danger in the environment and respond accordingly.
- Maintain appropriate staffing ratios throughout the shift and provide leadership for employees.
- Assign daily job responsibilities and coach employees on appropriate interactions/professional boundaries with residents.
- Provide documentation for employee discipline and improvement through progressive discipline and performance appraisals.
- Use Kronos to reconcile employee time records.
- Maintain certifications in MANDT, CPR, and first aid as required by STF.
- Maintain a valid driver license and liability insurance to drive a state vehicle.
- Order supplies for the pods as needed and input work orders to address issues within the pods.
- Adhere to all STF policies, protocols, and memorandums, including Universal Precautions and Infection Control policies.
- Abide by standard precautions for care of all residents, including hand hygiene and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Requirements
- At least 30 hours of successful college credit.
- 5-7 years of related experience.
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
Physical Requirements
- Heavy Work: May frequently exert force equivalent to lifting up to approximately 50 pounds and/or occasionally exert force equivalent to lifting up to approximately 100 pounds.
- Vision: Requires the ability to perceive the nature of objects by the eye, including near acuity, midrange, far acuity, depth perception, field of vision, accommodation, and color vision.
- Speaking/Hearing: Ability to give and receive information through speaking and listening skills.
- Smell: Ability to use the sense of smell to recognize and distinguish odors.
- Motor Coordination: Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend. Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of how to provide care to residents, including personal hygiene, first aid, and monitoring resident conditions.
- Knowledge of physical and nonphysical behavioral interventions.
- Ability to provide instructional training to residents and staff.
- Ability to coordinate and motivate multiple departments within the program and schedule them to provide accurate coverage according to policies and standards.
- Skilled in handling interpersonal relationships through positive leadership.
- Skills in providing effective communication (written, oral, and interpersonal).
- Skills in problem-solving.
