Adjunct Social Work Instructor

About the Role

Part-time adjunct instructor of Social Work. To teach one or two lower division courses per semester as needed. This is a pooled position. Applicants are selected from the pool as positions become available. After a period of time, the pool will expire and applicants will be notified.

Responsibilities

The position involves teaching responsibilities within a generalist social work practice framework, addressing the following subjects:

• Introductory generalist practice
• Social welfare policy
• Social work methods, values, and ethics
• Advanced social work practice methods at the macro level (i.e., community organizations)

Required Qualifications

• MSW from a CSWE-accredited program
• Two years of post-MSW practice experience (paid)
• Eligibility for a clinical social work license (LCSW) in the state of Utah
• Evidence of potential for teaching excellence in a variety of subject areas

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching in a classroom in a CSWE-accredited social work department
• A commitment to excellence in social work practice and education
• An interest in creative program development
• The ability to work in a collegial manner with social work faculty members, faculty from other disciplines across campus, and social work professionals in the broader community

Note: Due to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), individuals who have worked in a salaried capacity for Weber State University and have left their salaried positions within the last six months are ineligible to be hired as an hourly or adjunct employee at Weber State for six months.
