Adjunct Professor - Music & Athletic Band

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Instruct instrument sections (brass, woodwind, or drumline) based on the candidate’s area of expertise
• Teach courses within the Music Program, such as music theory or history or applied studies in music as applicable to the candidate’s expertise or as assigned by the Music Director
• Teach drill for the Trine University Sound of Thunder Marching Band and Pep Band during rehearsals
• Direct rehearsals and performances in the Director of Music’s absence
• Create educational marching formations for pregame and halftime performances
• Represent instrumental ensembles (jazz, chamber orchestra, wind ensemble, marching/pep band) at SOAR, Preview Days, Band Day, and Honor Band events
• Provide academic guidance to prospective students
• Manage instructional resources (instruments, uniforms, and sheet music) necessary for effective teaching and ensemble learning

Education and/or Experience

• Successful experience with marching and pep bands (collegiate preferred)
• Experience with drill writing, marching techniques, choreography, and instrument instruction (brass, woodwind, or drumline)
• Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching at the high school or collegiate level
• A master’s degree in music performance, music education, or conducting
