About the role

The Department of English at Fairfield University invites applications for an adjunct professor to teach a one or two summer sections of English 1010: Introduction to Literature and Cultural Studies at the Fairfield-Bellarmine campus.

Responsibilities

  • Teach English 1010: Introduction to Literature and Cultural Studies
  • Contribute to a highly successful academic program that is at the forefront of improving access to liberal education
  • Help expand liberal arts education in an area currently underserved by higher education opportunities
  • Offer small class sizes and individualized advising
  • Teach core classes in the liberal arts foundational to Jesuit higher education
  • Teach majors in professional fields of engineering, health studies, business, and liberal arts
  • Support students matriculating into four-year degree programs at Fairfield or elsewhere, or entering directly into the professions
  • Provide access to support services including career advising, counseling, food service, technology support, and campus ministry

Requirements

  • Hold an M.A. or Ph.D. in English or related field

  • Strong teaching skills
  • Experience in higher education
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Knowledge of educational technology

Pay

The pay for this position is commensurate with experience.
