About the role
To develop in each student the skills of critical thinking and to help students learn horticulture theory and application content presented to them in order for that student to become a positive member of the community. May teach horticulture classes, including lecture-only subjects and/or lecture subjects with hands-on lab sessions.
Responsibilities
- Develop lesson plans, content, presentations, ancillary materials, and assignments to effectively transform information to knowledge for students.
- Absorb and apply new information quickly and efficiently.
- Assess student learning and progress.
- Communicate verbally and in writing with clear, grammatically correct English.
- Interact with supervisors, colleagues, students, using tact, discretion, and independent judgment.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel), email, internet, and learning management systems (i.e., Canvas).
- Represent the OSU brand with positivity and professionalism.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Horticulture or related field.
- Must have educational qualifications to teach in the subject area or have documented specialty education/experience to meet tested experience requirements, as per the Higher Learning Commission's publication on Determining Qualified Faculty.
- Must have three to five years of industry experience in the area(s) of instruction.

- Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU brand with positivity and professionalism.
- Demonstrated history of ethical and professional behavior.
