About the role
The Virginia Beach Campus Of Bryant & Stratton College is seeking adjunct professors to teach Biology lecture and laboratory sections in the following areas: Anatomy and Physiology, Pathophysiology, and Microbiology.
Responsibilities
- Maintain direct and proactive contact with student advisees.
- Meet with individuals and small groups on an ongoing basis to build rapport, identify barriers to success, set, and review (and revise when necessary) academic and career goals.
- Participate in pertinent student success activities (e.g., New Student Orientation, campus-wide student engagement activities).
- Develop action plans for related success with a focus on student persistence to graduation.
- Convey to and discuss with students the necessary aspects of curriculum, course sequencing, academic status, registration, and the importance of long-term career and academic planning.
- Absorb and discuss with students the necessary aspects of curriculum, course sequencing, academic status, registration, and the importance of long-term career and academic planning.

- Assist students with registration and provide guidance in course selection to assure optimal (following the prescribed approach) course sequencing to best assure student persistence to graduation.
- Monitor academic progress of students; analyze progress reports from instructors and registrar; identify current and potential needs or problem areas and refer students to appropriate campus and outside community resources for assistance.
- Communicate findings to deans.
- Document all pertinent student information (i.e., attendance); update student information system regarding changes to student status.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to assure that student challenges and needs are addressed and managed.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Biology or Zoology, or doctorate in medical (MD) or rehabilitation field.
- Teaching experience with diverse adults, preferably within community college, career college or undergrad environments.
- Ability to meet deadlines and contribute to curriculum development.
- Professional experience in the science/healthcare/rehabilitation fields.
- Must be available for evening weekday classes.
