About the role
The Department of World Languages and Cultures in the College of Arts & Sciences at North Central College seeks adjunct faculty to teach elementary and intermediate Spanish courses on a per-course basis. Adjuncts deliver communicative instruction, assess student work, and maintain regular communication with department leadership.
Responsibilities
- Deliver instruction following the provided syllabus and textbook for elementary and intermediate Spanish courses.
- Assess students’ oral and written work, providing detailed feedback to improve communication skills in Spanish.
- Report midterm and final grades to the Registrar by college deadlines.
- Communicate regularly with the Elementary Spanish Coordinator and Department Chair regarding course progress or issues.
Requirements
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Spanish, Linguistics, Literature, or a related field.
- High-advanced, native-like, or native fluency in Spanish (oral and written).
- Commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring, and ongoing scholarship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience teaching Spanish, Linguistics, or Literature.
- Demonstrated excellence in communication, teaching, and research.
Pay
The budgeted salary range for this position is $3,840 to $4,380 per 4-credit hour course. Final pay will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, internal equity, and external market rates.
