About the role

The Computer Science Department at Cal Lutheran University seeks adjunct faculty members to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses. The position is part-time and open for the Fall and Spring semesters.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic instruction through lecture, lab, or performance courses.
  • Assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher order thinking skills among students.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance, provide feedback, and maintain accurate records.
  • Evaluate and select instructional materials and order them according to campus bookstore procedure.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Possession of a master's degree from a graduate institution of recognized standing or equivalent experience and professional recognition.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, social, economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of University students.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the needs of students with disabilities.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment; speaking to exchange information, provide instruction and make presentations; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; pushing, pulling or lifting light objects; bending and reaching to store and/or retrieve files.

Qualifications

  • Thorough and accurate knowledge in the subject field or discipline.
  • Ability to deliver course curricula in various learning styles.
  • Exhibit sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, social, economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of University students.
  • Exhibit sensitivity to and understanding of the needs of students with disabilities.
  • Integrate current and emerging instructional delivery technologies into the learning process to enhance teaching and the educational experience.
  • Maintain professional standards that protect student confidentiality.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing using tact, patience, and courtesy.
