Adjunct Piano Instructor

About the role

The Léman Conservatory private lesson program is seeking an experienced and motivated piano instructor to teach private lessons to students in Grades K-12 at varying skill levels during after-school hours.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and teaching 45-minute, one-on-one private lessons for students in grades K-12
  • Sequencing and differentiating instruction to ensure consistent progress and growth for each student
  • Maintaining clear expectations for students regarding weekly practice and progress
  • Assigning appropriate weekly material consisting of sequenced technical exercises/etudes as well as repertoire
  • Communicating frequently with parents and the Léman Conservatory Coordinator
  • Submitting bi-weekly lesson logs to the Léman Conservatory Coordinator
  • Preparing students for the annual Léman Conservatory Recital each June
  • Preparing students for auditions or competitions (e.g. NYSSMA, college auditions, etc.)
  • Communicating in a professional and proactive manner
  • Demonstrating independence and reliability

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in piano performance or music education with a piano focus
  • 3+ years of private teaching experience
  • Piano method books, technique training exercises, and repertoire
  • Master’s Degree in piano performance or music education with a piano focus, preferred
