Adjunct Music Instructor - Guitar

About the role

The Department of Music at Otterbein University invites applications for an adjunct (part time) Instructor to teach Applied Guitar, Guitar Methods for Music Educators, and to coach a faculty-led commercial music group and jazz combo, starting in Fall 2026.

Responsibilities

• Teach Applied Guitar
• Teach Guitar Methods for Music Educators (offered every two years)
• Coach a faculty-led commercial music group and jazz combo
• Taught a guitar class for non-majors if there is sufficient student interest
• Teach commercial music courses in future semesters if expertise across the music curriculum is demonstrated

Requirements

• Graduate degree in guitar performance (or related field)
• Previous teaching experience required

Qualifications

• Some knowledge of guitar classroom methods and techniques is desirable

Skills

• Experience performing and teaching the full range of jazz and commercial techniques
• Knowledge of classical guitar
