About the role
This is a Passport and UCGS transfer course that presents trigonometry and its various applications. The successful candidate must be committed to SVCC’s mission to provide high-quality education to the Southside Virginia community.
Responsibilities
- Trigonometric functions
- Analytic trigonometry
- Applications of trigonometry
- Conics
- Develop and maintain high-quality course materials aligned with college standards and learning outcomes.
- Maintain engagement through the college’s Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
- Monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies, maintaining accurate records and communicating with students and necessary departments as needed to support academic success.
Requirements
- Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics from a regionally accredited institution.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams.
- Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
- Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the community college and student success.
Qualifications
- Teaching experience at the college level, specifically with face-to-face and online/hybrid modalities.
- Competency using instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom and Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
- Experience working with community college students.
- Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and academic success.
Skills
- Ability to teach PreCalculus II effectively.
- Knowledge of trigonometry and its applications.
- Experience with online and hybrid teaching methods.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
