About the role
The College of Business at Stony Brook University invites applications for a non-tenure track part time lecturer position to teach Biotechnology Enterprises - Finance & Operations during the Fall 2026 semester.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging lectures and facilitate class discussions on topics related to biotechnology enterprises
- Develop and update course materials, syllabi, and assessments to ensure relevance and effectiveness
- Teach students in understanding the complexities of evolving business plans into viable companies, financial fluency, valuation and management team recruitment and development
- Provide one-on-one mentoring to students supporting their academic and professional growth
- Stay current with industry trends and incorporate real-world examples and case studies into the curriculum
- Encourage critical thinking, problem solving, and innovative approaches in the classroom
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and research projects
- Contribute to the academic community through research, publications, and conference presentations as time allows
Requirements
- Must hold unrestricted employment authorization for the U.S.
- Master's degree or higher in a discipline relevant to the life sciences or business/entrepreneurship
- Demonstrated diverse expertise within the biotechnology and life science industry including but not limited to entrepreneurship, financing and value creation, operations and project management, and leadership and human capital
- Teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Analytical and quantitative skills relevant to cash flow and enterprise value
Qualifications
- PhD, JD, or MD in a discipline relevant to the life sciences or business/entrepreneurship (preferred)
- Professional experience in teaching, translational research/technology development in an industry, investment or academic setting, grant writing and knowledge of biomedical product development and company formation
