Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules.
- Create and maintain an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking.
- Evaluate progress of students concerning educational matters and grades student work.
- Meet with students outside of class.
- Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
- Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
- Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
- Maintain accurate academic records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification-Education/Experience
- Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff and faculty.
- Master's in fine arts, art, or art history OR Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in humanities OR The equivalent.
Desirable Qualifications
- Recent teaching experience in community college, undergraduate, online, or adult education settings.
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas that complement existing departmental offerings (e.g., contemporary art, global art histories, non-Western art, Latin American art, Asian art, Indigenous art, museum studies, or visual culture).
- Experience teaching a broad range of art history courses, including introductory surveys of global art history, modern and contemporary art, thematic or interdisciplinary art history courses, visual culture and media.
- Experience designing and delivering online and hybrid instruction using learning management systems and digital engagement tools.
- Demonstrated ability to engage students in visual analysis, historical interpretation, research, and critical thinking.
- Experience incorporating diverse perspectives and expanding representation of artists, cultures, and historical narratives within curriculum.
- Experience supporting retention and academic achievement for first-generation, nontraditional, and historically underserved students.
- Experience collaborating across disciplines, including studio art and media studies.
