About the Role

The College of Business is seeking outstanding applicants to teach two sales-related courses (on campus) per semester, assigned based on credentials and departmental needs. The ideal candidate should be able to teach various sales-related courses (e.g., Professional Selling, Sales Management, and Advanced Selling). This is a pooled, part-time adjunct position with one or more applicants potentially hired on a semester-by-semester basis. The selected candidate must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris State University campus or approved site.

The anticipated start date is August 2026 or January 2027, though these dates may be revised. The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire without employer assistance or sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Teach two courses per semester during the 9-month academic year, focusing on sales-related topics such as Professional Selling, Sales Management, and Advanced Selling.
  • Coordinate and teach elective courses in areas of expertise, assigned based on teaching credentials.
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours at times convenient for students.
  • Participate in traditional academic functions, including reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time.
  • Collaborate with faculty on curriculum development, assessment, and quality assurance of assigned coursework.
  • Teach at the Big Rapids campus; may be required to teach off-campus or online.
  • Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
  • Cultivate an inclusive environment that values and respects individual similarities and differences.
  • Perform duties in accordance with established university policies and applicable laws.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned within the position classification area.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in business with a marketing concentration or a related master’s degree with 18 graduate credit hours in marketing.
  • Industry experience in marketing or a related field.
  • Ability to foster a meaningful learning experience for students and integrate current technology into the learning environment.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated experience working with people from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD or DBA in Marketing, with an emphasis on sales or a similar field (18 graduate hours in marketing required if the doctorate is in a related area).
  • Experience teaching Sales at the college level.
  • Proficiency in teaching modalities such as face-to-face and blended strategies.
  • Experience with tools such as SAP, SPSS, Google Analytics, or other relevant software for undergraduate Sales and Marketing courses.

Pay

Minimum of $1,353 per credit hour. If the candidate holds an advanced degree in the primary academic discipline, the minimum rate increases to $1,458 per credit hour. Salary is commensurate with qualifications pursuant to the FSU and FNTFO/AFT Agreement.
