ASU is developing a pool of potential adjunct faculty to teach introductory Philosophy courses. This posting is for temporary, as-needed appointments to teach specific Philosophy courses in an online, asynchronous, 8-week format.
About the role
Adjunct instructors will teach one or more of the following courses:
- PHIL 1301: Introduction to Philosophy
- PHIL 2305: Critical Reasoning and Logic
- PHIL 2306: Ethics
Our most frequent instructional needs are for PHIL 2305 and PHIL 2306.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the course syllabus and all instructional materials
- Deliver lectures and facilitate class discussions
- Evaluate student work and provide timely feedback
- Assign and submit final grades
Requirements
- Master’s degree or other evidence of professional qualifications in Philosophy or a related subject area
- Knowledge sufficient to effectively teach the assigned course(s)
- Ability to prepare instructional materials and deliver clear, engaging, and effective presentations
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior college-level teaching experience
