Adjunct Instructor of Journalism
The Frank W. and Sue Mayborn School of Journalism at the University of North Texas invites applications for adjunct instructor positions. This posting is for the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 semesters. Specific courses and openings will vary from semester to semester based on departmental teaching needs.
About the Role
The school seeks qualified individuals to teach various journalism courses including News Writing, Advanced Photojournalism, Broadcast, Magazine Writing and Publishing, Race, Gender & Media, Sports, Food, Music and Opinion Journalism, and Digital Media for Journalists. The position requires a bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field and at least 10 years of direct professional experience in media. A master's degree and three years of full-time experience in media and/or college teaching are preferred. Experience teaching online classes is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with students to exchange information.
- Teach a variety of journalism courses as assigned.
- Develop and maintain course materials.
- Assess student performance and provide feedback.
- Participate in departmental meetings and committees.
- Adapt to online teaching if required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field.
- At least 10 years of direct professional experience in media.
- Master's degree in journalism or related field (preferred).
