Adjunct Instructor of Design
The Department of Design at the UNT College of Visual Arts and Design invites applications for adjunct instructor positions for the Fall 2025, Spring 2026, and Summer 2026 semesters. Courses include Communication Design, Fashion Design, Human-Centered Interaction Design, Interior Design, and User Experience Design.
About the role
This is a part-time position with varying FTE based on assignment. The department seeks to hire individuals with a variety of backgrounds and experiences in design fields such as Communication Design, Fashion Design, Interior Design, and User Experience Design. Candidates should have a minimum of a bachelor's degree and 18 hours of graduate study in the relevant field, or professional work experience that substitutes for this requirement. For Interaction Design, a terminal master’s degree in User Experience Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Communication Design, or related fields is preferred, along with at least six years of relevant professional experience and two years of teaching experience at the graduate level.
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned courses in Communication Design, Fashion Design, Human-Centered Interaction Design, Interior Design, and User Experience Design.
- Develop and maintain course materials and syllabi.
- Assess student performance and provide feedback.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and incorporate them into teaching.
- Participate in departmental meetings and committee work.
Requirements
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree and 18 hours of graduate study in the relevant field, or professional work experience that substitutes for this requirement.
- A terminal master’s degree in User Experience Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Communication Design, or related fields for Interaction Design.
- At least six years of relevant professional experience and two years of teaching experience at the graduate level for Interaction Design.
Qualifications
- A terminal masters degree in related field or closely related field with professional and/or at least 2 years of teaching experience for Communication Design, Fashion Design, Interior Design, and User Experience Design.
Skills
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of industry trends and technologies.
- Experience with educational technology tools.
