Adjunct instructor of Art History

Part-time adjunct instructor position for the fall 2026 semester.

About the role

Teach one section of HIST 1202: Art History II in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30–10:45 a.m.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and follow course syllabus
• Incorporate visits to the Haggerty Museum of Art in syllabus
• Relate course learning outcomes and assessments to department and Marquette Common Core standards with guidance from Department chair
• Prepare and administer assessments as determined by syllabus
• Grade student work and submit midterm and final grades
• Maintain two office hours per week (may be virtual)

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Art History or substantial progress toward the terminal degree
• Ability to include visits to relevant sites in Milwaukee

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in Art History
• Previous experience teaching art history surveys with attention to global art and material culture
