About the role
Wake Technical Community College is seeking part-time faculty to teach Music Appreciation classes. Positions may or may not be available at this time.
Responsibilities
- Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
- Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
- Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
- Maintains a safe, collaborative and respectful working environment
- Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
- Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
- Utilizes innovative learning strategies to engage learners and support the goals of the course
- Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction
- Stays abreast of most current teaching methods and technology in the classroom
- Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
- Attends professional development opportunities when possible
- Demonstrates good management and care of college/departmental resources
Requirements
- Master's degree in Music OR a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Music
- Two years of post-secondary teaching experience
- At least one year of post-secondary experience teaching online
Qualifications
- Knowledge of and familiarity with technology and software including, computers, and web-based resources such as Blackboard
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential
