Adjunct Instructor - Mortuary Science

About the role

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in the classroom by developing and using effective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs and engage the student in critical thinking and problem-solving. Responsibilities

• Create courses aligned with learning outcomes and promote student active participation.
• Foster an effective learning environment that encourages students' intellectual curiosity and problem-solving using discipline-specific strategies.
• Employ various formative and summative assessments to ensure classroom instruction leads to student learning and attainment of course learning outcomes.
• Help students achieve academic, personal, and career goals and maintain a safe environment that respects diversity and promotes collaboration and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Pursuant to the City Colleges Credential Guidelines for the 2024/25 Academic Year, a Master’s Degree in Mortuary Science is required.
• Knowledge of Brightspace Learning Management System or similar Learning Management System is preferred.
• Prior experience with online teaching (via Zoom) and/or online teaching certification is strongly preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse groups of staff and students are required.
• A commitment to a diverse, multi-lingual student population and the open access mission of the community college is desired.

Schedule

The position is part-time, with specific hours to be determined based on the needs of the department.

Pay

Salary Range: $743-$943 per contact hour.
