Job Responsibilities
The purpose of an adjunct mathematics instructor is to provide high-quality instruction to students enrolled in a College Algebra, Statistics & Probability, or Contemporary Mathematics course. The instructor is responsible for the following:
- Teaching and designing course content
- Assessing student learning outcomes
- Providing feedback to students to ensure their success
- Supporting the mission of the College by helping students achieve their academic goals and prepare them for future academic and professional pursuits
- Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters open communication and constructive feedback
- Collaborating with other faculty members to ensure that curriculum and instruction are aligned with program and college-level goals
- Participating in departmental meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance their teaching skills and knowledge of the field
- Providing excellent instruction that supports the academic success of students and the goals of the department and the College
Minimum And Additional Requirements
- Master's degree in Mathematics, or a Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics
- Proficiency in using a learning management system (e.g., D2L/Brightspace)
- Effective communication skills
- The ability to engage students through various teaching methods
- Must meet the College's credentialing requirements for faculty teaching in the Math department
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree with college-level teaching experience
- Demonstrated success in engaging students through active learning techniques—ability to work with students with varying skill levels
Additional Comments
- The candidate must be available to teach on campus in a face-to-face setting during the evening hours of 6:00 pm - 7:20 pm and/or 7:30 pm - 8:50 pm on Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursdays or both.
