About the role

Tarleton State University, a distinguished Doctoral National Comprehensive University, invites applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor – Legal Studies in the Department of Government, Legal Studies, and Philosophy.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).
  • Teach up to six (6) semester credit hours in Legal Studies, either in-person, through approved instructional modalities, or as necessitated by student demand.
  • Engage students in active learning, foster critical thinking skills, and provide opportunities for discussion, collaboration, and hands-on learning.
  • Provide academic support and guidance to students through office hours, feedback on assignments, and mentoring.
  • Adhere to university policies, academic integrity standards, and accreditation requirements related to teaching responsibilities.
  • Incorporate innovative teaching methods, technologies, and pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning and engagement.

Requirements

  • Earned masters degree in Legal Studies, a Juris Doctorate, or a closely related field from an accredited university with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate/terminal degree in law or a closely related field from an accredited university with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
  • Previous online teaching experience at the collegiate level preferred.

Skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of disciplinary subject matter at a level adequate for undergraduate and graduate-level instruction.
  • Written and oral communication skills sufficient to conduct effective teaching activities.
  • Ability to interact with students, staff, and faculty in a professional, collegial, and collaborative manner.
