About the role
Wake Technical Community College is seeking adjunct faculty to teach Health and Fitness Science classes. While openings may not currently exist, interested candidates may be contacted in the future.
Responsibilities
- Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
- Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
- Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
- Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
- Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
- Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
- Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course
- Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction
- Maintains regular office hours
- Remains up-to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology
- Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
- Attends professional development opportunities when possible
- Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate
Requirements
- Master's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology or related field and experience as a personal trainer or group exercise instructor
- Unofficial transcripts must be attached with your online application prior to submission or submitted to Human Resources immediately upon completing the application. If transcripts are not submitted, your application may not receive full consideration.
- Knowledge of Blackboard, an online teaching tool
Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships with students, peers, supervisors, and staff
Skills
- Knowledge of industry recognized personal training and/or group exercise certification
