About the role

Rappahannock Community College (RCC) seeks adjunct instructors for the higher education program at the Haynesville Correctional Center in Haynesville, VA. Candidates should be qualified to teach one or more of the following subjects at the college level: Health, Math, Spanish, Sociology, Political Science, Music, Information Technology, Humanities/Fine Arts, Psychology, Communication, Philosophy, English, History or Theology.

Responsibilities

  • Teach course(s) in a credentialed area of qualifications.
  • Teach students using limited technology.
  • Commitment to academic excellence, continuous improvement through professional development, assessment, program and course development, and creating a collegial environment of civility, collaboration, and open communication.
  • Knowledgeable about best practices, innovative strategies, and instructional technologies that support teaching and learning.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in credentialed area(s) of qualifications.
  • Able to teach in-person classes on-site in the evenings.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching at the college level.

Skills

  • Ability to work with a varied student population, including adult learners and at-risk students.

Benefits

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Satisfactory reference and criminal background checks are a condition of employment.

Pay

$793 to $1,463 per credit hour, commensurate with education and experience.

Schedule

Must be able to teach evenings. Classes are Monday – Friday, 5 pm to 8 pm. Each class only meets 1 night per week. Must be able to teach in person at Haynesville Correctional Center.
