About the role

Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching courses in the approved discipline
  • Providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses
  • Mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom
  • Create and maintain an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned (face-to-face, hybrid, online, or dual credit)
  • Hours vary, depending on the need and course schedule, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction
  • Maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures
  • Provide instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes and engage in instructional preparation
  • Provide timely feedback to students and respond to student communications in a timely manner
  • Assessment of student performance; including submission of final grades in a timely fashion
  • Maintain ethical and professional behavior
  • Be available to students by appointment
  • Attend adjunct faculty meetings
  • Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels
  • Complete any required training

Requirements

  • Minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching courses designed for workforce certificate or degree completion
  • Appropriate academic degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline
  • Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with application
  • Three (3) years full-time verifiable paid experience with a fire department
  • Provide at minimum TCFP Basic Firefighter certificate, Instructor I certificate, Current TCFP Field Examiner
  • Must provide proof of an academic degree for lecture designation
  • Copies of certificates/license must be submitted with application

Qualifications

  • Associate degree and/or 2-5 years work experience in the field of study
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 6-10 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study
  • Master’s degree and/or 11-15 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study
  • Doctorate degree and/or 16+ years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study
