About the role
This position is designated as a security sensitive position and requires a satisfactory criminal history background check. Males between the ages of 18 through 25 must be properly registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in the approved discipline
- Provide instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses
- Mentor students inside and outside of the classroom
- Create and maintain an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned
- Engage in instructional preparation
- Provide timely feedback to students and respond to student communications in a timely manner
- Assess student performance and submit final grades in a timely fashion
- Maintain ethical and professional behavior
- Be available to students by appointment
- Attend adjunct faculty meetings
- Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels
- Complete any required training
Requirements
- Minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching courses designed for workforce certificate or degree completion
- Experience in hands-on instruction in colt-starting, horsemanship and behavior and training of performance horses
- Coaching or training experience of students in AQHA Versatility, Stock Horse, NRCHA, Cutting or other performance horse competition
- Reining, trail, sorting and roping experience is preferred
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and/or 6-10 years work experience in the field of study
- Master’s degree and/or 11-15 years work experience in the field of study
- Doctorate degree and/or 16+ years work experience in the field of study
Skills
- Instruct in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses
- Provide instruction that achieves specific goals and objectives associated with all assigned courses
- Create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory
- Communicate effectively with students, college personnel and administration, peers and public groups
- Treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice, without discrimination based upon age, sex, race, color, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation or gender identity
- Exercise the highest professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources
- Observe the stated policies and procedures of the College

Schedule
Hours vary, depending on the need and course schedule, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction.
