About the role
Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department.
Responsibilities
- Teaching courses in the approved discipline
- Providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses
- Mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom
- Create and maintain an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned (face-to-face, hybrid, online, or dual credit)
- Hours vary, depending on the need and course schedule, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction
- Maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures
- Provide instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes and engage in instructional preparation
- Provide timely feedback to students and respond to student communications in a timely manner
- Assessment of student performance; including submission of final grades in a timely fashion
- Maintain ethical and professional behavior
- Be available to students by appointment
- Attend adjunct faculty meetings
- Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels
- Complete any required training
Requirements
- Minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching courses designed for workforce certificate or degree completion
- Appropriate academic degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline
- Three (3) years field experience in a 911 service
- Current Paramedic Texas Department of State Health Services Certification in EMS
- Within 6 months of hire date, Texas Department of State Health Services EMS Instructor, American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS provider certifications
- Associate’s degree in EMS, Texas Department of State Health Services Basic Coordinator, American Heart Association Instructor Certification preferred
- Minimum 1 year of educational teaching in a clinical, preceptor, higher education, or continuing education EMS/Paramedic Role preferred

- Demonstrate the ability to instruct in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses
- Ability to provide instruction that will achieve the specific goals and objectives associated with all assigned courses
- Ability to create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, college personnel and administration, peers and public groups
- Ability to treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice, without discrimination based upon age, sex, race, color, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation or gender identity
- Ability to exercise the highest professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources
- Ability to observe the stated policies and procedures of the College
