About the role
The Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of Missouri-Kansas City seeks qualified candidates for part-time adjunct faculty positions in French, German, and Spanish. These positions are designed for individuals who can teach primarily undergraduate elementary and intermediate level courses.
Responsibilities
- Deliver courses in French, German, or Spanish at the undergraduate level.
- Teach elementary and intermediate level courses.
- Engage in at least two teaching development activities, such as internships, shadowing, or training in pedagogy.
- Participate in ongoing professional development through conference presentations or publications.
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and native or near-native fluency in the foreign language required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree or equivalent advanced degree in the foreign language or appropriate related field, or completed at least one year of a graduate program in the target language.
- Some college-level teaching experience (at least one semester of teaching).
- Taught a full class in the target language at the high-school level or at an organization.
- Evidence of teaching excellence.
- Engaged in at least two teaching development activities, such as interning in a high school language program, shadowing a high school teacher or university professor for a semester, served as a teaching assistant, have taken a pedagogy course, or trained by a language coordinator.
- Completed a year-long study abroad program.
- Completed two or more conference presentations or publications (including trade, journalistic, or literacy) in or on the target language.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
Schedule
This is a part-time, non-benefit eligible unranked non tenure track position with an appointment period for the semester with consideration for reappointment.
