About the role
Wake Technical Community College is seeking adjunct faculty to teach in the Dental Assisting Program. Positions may be available at any time, and applicants may be contacted for future openings.
Responsibilities
- Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
- Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
- Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
- Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
- Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
- Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
- Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course
- Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction
- Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
- Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate
- Remains up-to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology
- Attends professional development opportunities when possible
Requirements
- Graduate of an American Dental Association Accredited Dental Assisting Program
- Certified Dental Assistant (Current Status) from the Dental Assisting National Board
- Three years of experience as a Chair-side Dental Assistant and/or Clinical Dental Hygienist
- Training within the past 12 months for Bloodborne Pathogens and HazCom
Qualifications
Knowledge of American Dental Association accreditation process
Knowledge of dental assisting clinic and equipment
Knowledge of four-handed dentistry and ergonomics
Knowledge of the current blood borne pathogen standard requirements regarding infection control and HazCom standards
Clinical competence in the performance of Dental Assisting II skills as recognized by the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners
Current CPR Certification
