Adjunct Instructor - Construction Management
About the role
We are seeking adjunct faculty to teach one course or a variety of courses, in one or more of the following degree programs: Building Construction Technology AAS, and Construction Management BS.
Responsibilities
- Meet established course outcomes.
- Plan, deliver, and grade all course content and student work for assigned courses.
- Congduct construction management, building construction technology classes, and labs, or other assignments as directed and in a professional manner.
- The position may entail one or more classes, based on program needs.
- Close consultation with program faculty, as well as training via university-provided programs (where appropriate).
- Maintain at least 1 hour per week per course section for office hours to meet with students outside of class or lecture, at a time convenient to students.
- Faculty members also have professional responsibilities, which may include, but are not limited to, regularly scheduled office hours (at times convenient for students) and participation in traditional academic functions (e.g., reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time).
- Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State's sites.
- The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan by the first day of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris site.
- Carries out responsibilities in accordance with university policies and applicable laws.

- Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
Requirements
- The standard to teach college credit courses at the associate degree level (1xx, 2xx) shall be a bachelor's (or higher) degree in a field or a closely related area.
- The standard to teach college credit courses at the baccalaureate level (3xx, 4xx) shall be a master's degree in a field or a closely related area, or a master's degree and 18 graduate hours in the field.
- The standard to teach college credit courses at the graduate level shall be a terminal degree in the field or a closely related area, or a practice terminal qualification as defined by the college faculty qualification guideline.
Qualifications
- The following combinations of education and experience shall be considered qualifying tested experience to teach at the associate's level (1xx, 2xx).
- The experience considered shall comply with the quality and nature of the tested experience defined above.
- The following combinations of education and experience shall be considered qualifying tested experience to teach at the baccalaureate level (3xx, 4xx).
- The experience considered shall comply with the quality and nature of the tested experience defined above.

- Demonstrated successful experience working directly with people from diverse backgrounds, including cultural, educational, socioeconomic, and life experiences.

Pay
Minimum of $1,353 per credit hour; if an advanced degree is held in the primary academic discipline, the minimum rate increases to $1458 per credit hour. Salary commensurate with qualifications pursuant to the FSU and FNTFO/AFT agreement.
Schedule
The anticipated start date for this position is August 2026 at the earliest, and January 2027 at the latest.
