Adjunct Instructor - Anthropology

About the role

The Truman College is seeking a part-time Faculty to teach Anthropology. The ideal candidate should have a passion for teaching and learning, and be committed to the mission of the community college.

Responsibilities

• Create courses that meet learning outcomes and promote active student participation.
• Design an effective learning environment that fosters intellectual curiosity and problem-solving.
• Use a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure student learning and attainment of course objectives.
• Help students achieve academic, personal, and career goals while fostering a respectful and inclusive environment.
• Contribute to and lead student academic and professional communities, and collaborate with colleagues.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Anthropology or a related field (Applied Anthropology, Archaeology, Biological or Physical Anthropology, Cultural or Socio-cultural Anthropology, Anthropological Linguistics).
• At least one year of experience teaching in a community college.
• Experience working in a culturally diverse environment with sensitivity to handling all situations.
• Knowledge of D2L/Brightspace Learning Management System, preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of staff and students.

Pay

The starting salary for this position is $800.00 - $943.00 per contact hour, according to the City Colleges approved salary scale.
