About the role

This position is responsible for providing effective instruction for assigned courses.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
  • Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
  • Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
  • Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course
  • Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
  • Remains up to date on technology and methods of teaching with technology

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Accounting OR a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Accounting
  • Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related subject area may be considered for instructor vacancies teaching non-transferrable courses
  • Unofficial transcripts must be attached with your online application prior to submission or submitted to Human Resources immediately upon completing the application

  • Ability to teach both seated and online courses

  • Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others
  • Ability to maintain records accurately and meet deadlines consistently
  • Ability to complete EPIC training within one year of hire if teaching online
  • Good organizational skills
  • Knowledge of and facility with technology and software including computers and web-based resources such as BlackBoard
  • Ability to perform normal duties with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential

Preferences

  • Post-secondary teaching experience
  • Work experience in a Community College setting
  • Work experience in Accounting
  • Online teaching experience
  • Involvement in professional accounting organizations
  • Professional Certification(s)
