Adjunct-GED

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

• Teaching reading, English, social studies, science, math and computer skills to individuals who are functioning below the 12th grade level to prepare for the official GED ® Exam;
• Create and develop curriculum, lesson plans and teaching materials;
• Integrate computer-aided instruction into lessons as appropriate;
• Maintain and assess students' progress on a regular basis.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill Requirements

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree;
• Minimum of 12 months teaching experience preferred;
• Flexibility in work hours;
• Computer proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office and the internet;
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds;
• Ability to pay close attention to detail as well as the possession of good judgment and a strong work ethic;
• Strong communication skills;
• All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and effective classroom environment;
• Participate in department, division, and general adjunct faculty meetings;
• Participate in professional development as appropriate to the position;
• Teach reading, English, social studies, science, math and computer skills;
• Create and develop curriculum, lesson plans and teaching materials;
• Maintain and assess students' progress on a regular basis;
• Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
