Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Teaching reading, English, social studies, science, math and computer skills to individuals who are functioning below the 12th grade level to prepare for the official GED ® Exam;
- Create and develop curriculum, lesson plans and teaching materials;
- Integrate computer-aided instruction into lessons as appropriate;
- Maintain and assess students' progress on a regular basis.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree;
- Minimum of 12 months teaching experience preferred;
- Flexibility in work hours;
- Computer proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office and the internet;
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds;
- Ability to pay close attention to detail as well as the possession of good judgment and a strong work ethic;
- Strong communication skills;
- All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and effective classroom environment;
- Participate in department, division, and general adjunct faculty meetings;
- Participate in professional development as appropriate to the position;

- Create and develop curriculum, lesson plans and teaching materials;
- Maintain and assess students' progress on a regular basis;
- Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
